Overview

Who you are: Have a passion for writing and communicating ideas? Are you an aspiring digital marketing maven obsessed with dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s who wears your perfectionist cap with pride? We may have the job for you!

We’re looking for an Email Marketing Associate to keep our users and partners informed… and entertained. Through writing wizardry and killer creative direction, you’ll craft engaging, revenue-generating emails — all while maintaining the snappy Spiceworks style that’s won us a place in the hearts of IT pros around the globe. You’ll learn the ins-and-outs of email marketing from a dynamic, focused team in a high-energy environment… and have a ton of fun while you’re at it! Think you’re up for the task? It’s time to apply.

Check out what makes a Spiceworker… spicy.

Who we are: Launched in 2006, Spiceworks is an Austin-based company that’s shaking up the tech space and transforming how products (hardware, software, and IT services) are marketed and sold to millions of IT professionals around the world. Thousands of tech brands (including Microsoft, Dell, HP, and Rackspace) use Spiceworks to reach and connect with these IT pros. Historically a tough market to reach, vendors love the unique ways Spiceworks helps them connect with this elusive market… so much so that Forbes touted us “the future of media.”

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day (as an Email Marketing Associate, you’ll):

  • Write eye-catching copy that motivates Spiceworks users and partners to respond to various offers — including promotions, deals, event invites, and more
  • Come up with creative ideas for design, layout, and audience segmentation
  • Research and apply email best practices
  • Learn and apply the Spiceworks brand, personality, and tone
  • Copyedit for grammar, structure, and flow
  • Master email marketing software
  • Perform A/B and multivariate testing
  • Track and report results — you secretly love dabbling in data and number crunching — and use those results to craft top-performing emails
  • Thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment: You’ll juggle the million-and-one details required to execute emails flawlessly and work well under pressure (often a time crunch), while still being able to “go with the flow”

Qualifications

What does it take to do this job?

  • 1-3 years of marketing communications or email marketing under your belt (agency experience a plus) and/or a degree in marketing communication, advertising, or related fields is a must.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills — with a command of copywriting basics and grammatical principals and an editor’s eagle eye: Typos hurt your eyes, and you keep grammar sites bookmarked as favorites in your browser!
  • Excruciatingly detail-oriented: Your friends and family call you obsessive — and call you when they need anything proofread!
  • The ability to quickly grasp new tech concepts: You have a certain comfort with technical products (and researching them) and can clearly communicate their technical benefits in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Out-of-this-world project management skills with the ability to multi-task and complete projects flawlessly under tight project deadlines.
  • The mindset of an avid learner: You prefer to formulate a hypothesis before asking someone else for the answer.
  • Agility is key: You think on your feet and adapt well to a quickly changing environment.
  • Stellar interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate with a wide array of people: You’re a “people person!”
  • Analytical: You secretly love dabbling in data, metrics and number crunching
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in tech marketing is a major plus.
  • Experience with an email service provider a plus.
