As Director of Technical Sales Strategy at Spiceworks, you’ll leverage your expertise and our best-in-class solutions to establish and grow large, long-term partnerships with our top clients and our emerging customers with the greatest opportunity for growth. You’ll lead a team of strategists in developing deep client relationships in partnership with our sales, client success, and delivery teams. You’ll coach/support the team in providing innovative, strategic thinking and solutions that lead to renewals and growth — all while developing best practices and new processes within the Strategist team.

Your day-to-day (as Director of Technical Sales Strategy, you’ll):

  • Client Management:
    • Interact with key clients to proactively address needs, provide thought leadership and solve business problems that drive satisfaction.
    • Learn and understand business requirements of target accounts alongside the Strategists.
    • Develop strategic game plans and measurable goals for each Strategic and Investment Account that will result in long-term partnership and growth.
    • Communicate client needs, challenges and opportunities to leadership and c-level executives.
    • Create and implement customized digital strategies and solutions based on clients’ business problems and/or initiatives.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead a team of 3-5 Strategists and help them manage, deepen, and improve relationships with our clients.
    • Manage the individual growth of Strategists by developing their general business acumen, industry knowledge (digital marketing, tech, etc.), Spiceworks product knowledge, and business development skills (driving sales opportunities with ).
    • Provide advisory support on client engagement and the creation and execution of client deliverables.
    • Communicate individual team member activity and revenue impact; Coach team members in exceeding their goals.
  • Financial Management:
    • Identify and prioritize opportunities for growth within investment accounts that warrant the focus and resources of the Strategist Team with Sales leadership.
    • Work with Revenue (Sales, CS, Delivery) and Product management to understand, replicate, and potentially productize what’s working to drive growth from the Strategists.
    • Focus collaboration with Sales Management to set realistic revenue goals and execute on them.


What does it take to do this job?

  • MBA preferred, or Masters in Business or Marketing
  • 7+ years’ experience in brand/marketing/communications strategy experience
  • Proven people leader who is capable of coaching to top performance and building a high-performing team
  • Track record of driving superior results from others by providing strong thought leadership and clear prioritization / pipeline management
  • Willing and able to contribute directly to team efforts and results
  • Highly motivated with experience in building client relationships and expansion of accounts
  • Interest in and aptitude for creative business and marketing solutions
  • Ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • Excellent presentation skills that encompass clear, compelling communications
  • Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes
  • Ability to self-manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment, as well as managing team-assigned projects
  • Expert knowledge of all product solutions and capabilities
